Why Choose a Radiant Competition Team?

Radiant Competition Teams require a higher level of commitment and dedication. They foster strong personal growth and team growth. Although we expect the dancers to attend classes, work hard, and practice at home, they are only required to be in class a few hours a week. We keep our teams small, which allows for greater growth and opportunity for personal instruction. Our dancers will get what they put into it. We work to take them from where they are at, and help them set personal goals to succeed. At Radiant, our Competition Teams will have the opportunity to perform at both our mid year and end of year Spring Recitals. They will also compete at two local competitions in March. Our additional combo ballet, tumbling, and technique classes are optional. Jazz/Contemporary and HipHop are separate teams, but the dancers are welcome to audition for both. At Radiant we strive to build strong individuals, as well as dancers.

Please arrive on time and wear all black dance attire to audition. For Jazz, dancers can be barefoot or in dance turners/shoes. For Hip Hop Auditions wear clean sneakers. Auditions will consist of a dance combo portion (different level options), as well as 2 sets of 8 of the dancers' own choice.
Dancers will be placed on a team dependent on ability and preparedness. Judges will be looking at performance, technique, and execution. We encourage dancers to have at least 2 years of previous dance experience, but it is not required to audition. Auditions are a great learning experience and will allow the instructors to place the dancers where they will be most comfortable and enjoy classes the most. If a dancer wants to try to move up a team, and the instructors feel they have improved enough over the summer, they can reaudition at the end of the summer.
Instead of basing teams on ages, we will be grouping the dancers based off of technique ability. This will allow us to help them improve on a faster and more specific level and help them perform better at competitions. Some dancers may be encouraged after auditions to participate on a performance company and technique classes this year until they are ready to compete. We want all dancers to be where they will feel the most comfortable, improve the most, and be their best! We also want them to be able to learn leadership, teamwork, and dedication.
*For those who make the company teams, we will require at least 5 weeks of technique training over the summer. (10 weeks available) We will also have a mandatory team bonding/training camp for all competition dancers on Aug 2- Aug 3.

Solos & Private Lessons-
Solos and Private lessons are a great opportunity for growth and experience. Solo competitions are typically the night before our team competitions. You can also choose to compete at any competition throughout the state or nationally. Rates for choreography and lessons are dependent on the chosen instructor.
ATTENDANCE POLICY-
Competition Teams take hard work, dedication and commitment. Our teams are only required to attend a few hours a week. We rely on each student to learn the choreography, make formations, and clean the routines. Please make it a priority to be at practice each week. (plan parties, activities, etc. outside of practice) It is extremely important the dancers do not miss. We will start learning competition routines the week classes start. Three weeks up to a competition are mandatory. If a dancer misses class in this time frame, the instructors may take the dancer out of the routine for competition. We will have three or four Saturday practices throughout the year, as well as a dress rehearsal before competition

For those who need help financially, scholarship opportunities are available for those who qualify, as well as student teaching opportunities are available for those 12 and older to off-set tuition cost. Contact Rachel for more details.

By signing this waiver you agree to do your best to make it to class each week and commit to attending the competitions. You also agree to pay the tuition and fees as listed.
